How To Make An Extra £100 Per Day

James Beattie By James Beattie 36 Min Read

Making an extra £100 a day or even a few hundred pounds per month can be life-changing for many of us. It may seem out of reach but I’m here to tell you it’s not.

Over the past 7 years, I have been working full-time online and have tested a wide variety of business models which have worked well for me. Some of them make me a couple hundred pounds per month while others have made a lot more. I’ve also tried a lot of terrible business models in my time, so I’m going to let you know exactly where you should spend your time and where you shouldn’t.

First off let me get this straight. I’m not going to be promoting BS survey websites or paid-to-watch video offers. I could make good money doing it but they’re simply not worth your time. Everything on this list gives you a chance to make real money, developing real skills.

Let’s jump in and take a look at a few of the tried and tested business models I have used to make an extra £100 per day.

How Much Is £100 Per Day?

Let’s take a look at how much extra £100 per day actually is. It may not seem like a lot but over the course of months and years, it’s a significant amount.

If you are earning £100 per day including the weekends you would earn:

Weekly – £700
Monthly – £3000
Yearly – £36500

If you earned £100 on weekdays only, you would earn:

Weekly – £500
Monthly – £2100
Yearly – £26000

As you can see, £100 per is actually quite a lot of money over the course of a year. For a lot of people, it may even be enough to leave their job.

Some of you may just be interested in making this amount of money for a short period of time to potentially pay down debt, save for a house or buy a car. Others may be more interested in taking it further and making this a full-time gig. No matter what side you are on, there’s an idea here to help you make more money.

21 Ways To Make An Extra £100 Per Day Online

Below I have outlined some of the best online business models that can make £100 per day. Most of these I have personally tried so you know they actually work. I have even included some screenshots showing my real earnings from these platforms.

I have rated each model based on 3 different factors:

Earning Potential – How much can the average person earn per day
Difficulty – How easy is it to get started
Time – How long does it take to make your first money

I have given a brief explanation of each of these methods which should help you decide what you want to do. However, you will need to do some further research as we can’t go into full guides in this article.

Freelancing

Earning Potential: £20 – 500/day
Difficulty: Easy
Time: Fast

Freelancing offers a flexible avenue to earn income online. Individuals or companies engage freelancers for specialized tasks on a contractual basis, with compensation structured either hourly or per project.

Freelancing was one of the first ways I made money online. You can see back when I was in high school I was able to make over £3,700 with simple graphics design jobs and website builds. For most of these jobs, I learned on the go and if I didn’t have the skills I would outsource the work elsewhere.

Freelancing Results From Peopleperhour

If you already have a skillset such as Excel, social media marketing, web design, etc then this is a great place to start your online journey. One way to stand out from the crowd is by submitting video proposals. In the days of chatGPT, 90% of proposals are auto-generated and easy to see through. Simply do a tiny bit more than the competition and you have a great chance to land jobs even without reviews.

Blogging

Earning Potential: £1 – £1,000 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Slow

Most people think blogging is dead but they’re completely wrong. The fact you are reading this article right now means that they’re wrong. By you being on this page right now, I’m making money through ads and if you click any of the links on the page I will likely make a commission.

By writing content that focuses on answering people’s questions, you can rank in Google. People will then visit your website. When you have people visiting your site, there is always a way to monetize it.

For example, I used to get paid over $5,000 per month on my Twitch Streaming guide website from ads alone. It made another $1,000 or so from referring products.

Mediavine earnings

I then eventually went on to sell this website for over 6 figures at the end of 2022. So, if anyone tries to tell you blogging is dead, they’re simply wrong.

Affiliate Marketing

Earning Potential: £5 – £10,000 per day
Difficulty: Medium (Audience or Paid Marketing Required)
Time: Medium

Another great way to make money online is through affiliate marketing. This is when you recommend someone else’s product and make a commission. It’s easier than starting your own brand from scratch, as you don’t have to create your own products or manage support.

Over my years online, I have promoted many companies’ products and made well over $100,000 doing it. The reason I could do this is because I have an audience. I built up my Youtube channel and email list then recommended the products I was using to my followers.

A single software product I have been promoting for more than 3 years now has paid me almost $75,000.

If you can start to build an audience that likes and trusts you, making recommendations to them comes naturally. If you integrate high-quality products that are actually useful into your content, this can be a really good way to make money.

Another example is this website. We write reviews on certain financial products. If you find our review useful and use one of our links to sign up, we get a commission.

Youtube Channel

Earning Potential: £5 – £2,000+ per day
Difficulty: Medium
Time: Long

Youtube is a great way to start making some extra side income. If you didn’t know already, Youtube pay creators for ads shown on their videos. Youtube pays creators 55% of the revenue earned from ads on their videos.

It will take most people 1-2 years of videos before they really start to blow up on Youtube, if you start from scratch. However, if you find the process fun and enjoyable it can be a great way to potentially make some extra money. You can earn money through ads but also build your own products and sell them as well as push affiliate products to your audience.

I’ve had my channel for over 6 years now but in that time it has made over $65k in ad revenue as well as a lot more money from my own product sales and affiliates.

Youtube Ad Revenue

Twitter

Earning Potential: £1 – £100+ per day
Difficulty: Medium
Time: Medium

Similar to Youtube, you can now make money on Twitter. Elon Musk recently released a revenue share program for creators. Some large creators on the platform are making a lot simply by tweeting.

To qualify you must:

  • Be subscribed to X Premium or Verified Organisations
  • Have at least 5 million organic impressions on your cumulative posts within the last 3 months.
  • Have at least 500 followers.

While the earnings are fairly small, it’s a good way to make money while building an audience at the same time. You can then use this audience to sell your own products or promote affiliate products.

Start An Online Agency

Earning Potential: £100 – £2,000+ per day
Difficulty: Medium
Time: Medium

Rather than selling products online, you can sell services. This is one of the more popular online business models for beginners. You essentially want to find a service that you can sell to other businesses. Some examples are:

  • Social Media Marketing
  • Content Writing
  • Graphics Design
  • Video Editing
  • etc

If you started by freelancing, you can likely turn your freelancing skill into an agency and start to scale up by getting more clients and hiring contractors to fulfill a portion of the work. As an agency grows the owner will likely spend more time finding clients and communicating with existing clients rather than fulfilling the work itself.

Selling Courses

Earning Potential: £100 – £10,000 per day
Difficulty: Medium
Time: Medium

Selling digital courses is one of the best online business models right now. You have no cost of goods and can sell the same product to multiple people. This is different from agency services, where you have to fulfill the work each time. If you can teach people how to do the work themselves you can sell to a lot more people with a lot less work.

You can really sell courses on anything. It could be fitness, business, excel, or woodworking. If you can teach it in video or written form there’s an audience out there who will buy it. To do really well selling courses you will need to first build an audience by putting out valuable content in your niche for free. This will allow people to get to know you and then eventually buy your products. You can also sell on course platforms such as Udemy or Skillshare. These platforms have an existing audience ready to buy your products.

I sold a Facebook Ads training course back in 2017 – 2019 and was able to make some good money through it. Some of my friends have made millions selling fitness and other business-related courses online.

Online Course Sales

Start An Etsy Store

Earning Potential: £10 – £500 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

Etsy is an online marketplace that sells handmade and digital items. You can also use it to sell print-on-demand items such as mugs, t-shirts, and canvases without ever touching the items.

I tested Etsy for a few months selling custom nurse mugs. I got the graphics from Creative Fabrica and used them to customise the mug according to the customer’s specifications. I then used Printify to fulfil the orders and send them out to the customers.

If you don’t think you can put together your own designs, you can hire designers on sites like Fiverr to create the designs for you. Then you can market them on Etsy. The best thing about Etsy is the existing audience. You don’t have to have your own audience as customers are already on Etsy searching for your products. This makes it great for beginners.

Sell Digital Art Work

Earning Potential: £10 – £100 per day
Difficulty: Medium (Need To Be A Skilled Artist)
Speed: Medium

Similar to Etsy, there are digital marketplaces such as Creative Fabrica. Here you can upload your artwork or fonts and make a commission when someone downloads them. You will have to have some existing art skills if you want to start making money with this method. Below you can see some of the styles people are selling.

You can also use AI to generate art assets and sell them on these types of platforms. If you can get really good at prompting with tools such as midjourney you could have some really good success.

Dropshipping

Earning Potential: £100 – £10,000 per day
Difficulty: Medium
Speed: Medium

Dropshipping is how I made my first million in revenue. This is when you sell a product without holding inventory. When you take an order, you send that order through to your supplier and they ship it directly to your supplier. This is great as you don’t have to spend thousands making an inventory order to start selling.

However, you will need money to test products before finding one that works. This can take £1-2k so you will need some upfront cash to get started. If you are looking to make money without much risk, some of the other options here are likely better for you.

Amazon Influencer Program

Earning Potential: £10 – £300 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

The Amazon influencer program is one of the fastest side hustles I have tried to make money online. You review products from Amazon and your video appears on the product page. If someone watches your video and then makes a purchase, you get a commission.

We put a full free guide together teaching you how to get set up. Pretty much everyone has items in their house that they purchased from Amazon or are sold on Amazon. You simply record a quick 1 – 2 minute video review with your thoughts on the product and upload it.

In my first 30 days of the program, I was able to make over $400. Depending on how many products you have, you can easily add a few hundred pounds to your income each month. If you want to scale you can purchase more products or get products from friends to review.

Video Editor

Earning Potential: £100 – £500 per day
Difficulty: Medium
Speed: Medium

There is more content being uploaded online right now than at any time in history. Content is vital to a lot of businesses making video editors in high demand.

You can learn everything you need to know on Youtube for free. It may take you a few months to learn the skill but good editors make great money. If you can get in with a Youtuber on the rise and grow with them, you can make a great career out of editing.

Ghost Writer

Earning Potential: £100 – £500 per day
Difficulty: Medium
Speed: Medium

Ghostwriting is become extremely popular on Twitter. As more people grow their personal brands they need help to produce content. You may or may not know, but some of your favorite creator’s tweets are probably written by ghostwriters.

By learning copywriting as a skill and combining it with AI you can start up a ghostwriting agency writing tweets for influencers. It may be hard at the start to find your first clients but you will get a snowball effect as you grow and gain case studies.

Depending on your expertise you can specialise in a certain niche such as fitness or business and get a lot of referral business as you grow.

Content Writing

Earning Potential: £50 – £400 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

While content writing isn’t as popular as it used to be since the arrival of AI, it’s still a viable way to make money online. If you specialise in something like health, finance, or review content you can still make good money.

For example, on this blog, we pay our writers £70+ per article depending on the type of article they are producing. If you are an expert in your niche, you are still valuable to publishers like myself.

You can find jobs on sites like Upwork, Pro Blogger and by sharing content on Twitter.

Virtual Assistant

Earning Potential: £50 – £150 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

A virtual assistant can take on many different tasks for a single person or a business. For example, I used to hire virtual assistants to help me with order fulfillment. I trained them using my operating procedures and they executed the simple tasks on the daily.

Some people also use virtual assistants to help them with scheduling, emails, booking flights and trips, etc. If there are simple tasks that take away from someone’s main business, they can outsource the simple tasks to a virtual assistant.

You can find these jobs on Upwork, Indeed, PeoplePerHour etc.

Online Tutoring

Earning Potential: £50 – £150 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

If you have skills in a specific subject, online tutoring could be a great option to make extra money. Since the pandemic, tutoring online has became a lot more popular. Students are much more comfortable with online lessons vs in person, opening you to a much larger market.

Tutoring is cyclical with demand peaking during exam periods. Take advantage of this time to put in the extra hours and make some extra money.

Online Tutoring side hustle

Sites like MyTutor, Tutorful or Tutorhunt are a great place to start.

Sell Old Clothes & Items Online

Earning Potential: One-off £50 to £500
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

While this method won’t necessarily make you consistent cash flow it can be a great way to get much-needed money fast. We all have old “junk” lying around the house that is useful to someone else.

For you, that might be clothes that you can sell on eBay or vinted. How many times have you worn a dress and then put it to the back of your wardrobe never to be seen again? Get those old clothes out and get them sold. The money is better in your pocket than in the back of the wardrobe.

For me, it’s old tech equipment I don’t use anymore. Stuff like monitors, keyboards, and PC parts. If I make an upgrade, the old stuff gets sold online and I get some of that money back in my pocket.

Use Cashback Apps

Earning Potential: £1 – £30 Per Day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

Cashback apps allow you to get money back on the purchases you are already making. It may not be much but it adds up over time. Some of the cashback offers at TopCashBack are significant.

They work with popular online stores such as Asos, Deliveroo, Argos and 1000’s more. If you’re going to be shopping, you may as well be getting the items you’re buying at a slightly cheaper rate.

While this won’t make you your £100 per day it’s something you can do with very little effort to edge your way closer.

Get A High-Interest Savings Account

Earning Potential: £1 – £300 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

If you already have some money sitting around, you want to ensure it’s in a high-interest savings account. In 2023 we are now seeing some good interest rates for the first time in a long time. The account I currently use is Chip which is giving a 4.84% interest rate on your money.

Our Top Savings Pick
Chip | 4.84% Interest Easy Access Savings
4.5

Chip is an award-winning savings and investment app. They became popular with their high-interest savings account but also offer investment services and automatic saving.

We earn a commission when you join chip through our link, at no extra cost to you.

If you’re not interested in using Chip you can check out our full guide to the best high-interest savings accounts in the UK.

Currently, I am making almost £100 per month in interest alone. It might not be £100 per day but it gets me closer to my goals and helps me to keep up with inflation.

Investing

Similar to the above, investing is another way to make money. Now, I’m not talking about becoming a day trader here. The odds of being a successful day trader are simply too low for me to take seriously.

However, I am a fan of investing in Index funds over long periods of time, collecting dividends and watching my money compound. Investing small sums of money each month into the market can compound into enormous sums. Check out our compound interest calculator to see how much certain monthly investments can turn into over time.

A £300 per month investment at a 9% per year return, turns into £1,063,733 over 37 years. That means if you start at 30, you would have over 1 Million at retirement.

Personally, I have invested with Hargreaves Lansdown for the past 8 years and have had nothing but a great experience.

Matched Betting

Earning Potential: £10 – £300 per day
Difficulty: Easy
Speed: Fast

Matched betting is a method used by individuals to profit from the free bets and incentives offered by bookmakers. It involves placing two bets: the first one (called the “back bet”) is made at a regular bookmaker for a particular outcome to happen, and the second one (called the “lay bet”) is made on a betting exchange like Betfair against that outcome happening.

This ensures that all possible outcomes of an event are covered. By applying this strategy to promotions and free bet offers, it’s possible to unlock value and generate a profit regardless of the actual outcome of the event, as the two bets will cancel each other out.

You can make some pretty good money utilising this strategy but it will eventually tap out as you use up all the bonuses available on the market.

6 Ways To Make £100 Per Day Offline

If you would rather get out of the house every day to make your money, there are some other business and side hustle ideas just for you. You can make great money simply by being valuable around your local neighborhood.

Get A Second Job

One of the easiest ways to make an extra £100 per day is simply by getting a second job. If you need to earn money fast in a short period of time, this is the easiest way to do it. Land a job and get guaranteed money in exchange for your time.

While it may not be ideal, you can dedicate 100% of your second income to your savings goal, whether that’s a car, house deposit or wedding. You’re sacrificing some time now for a better future. You definitely don’t want to get into debt for the above things.

Food Delivery

Food delivery is an extremely popular way to make some extra money. If you live in a major city, you can make approximately £11 per hour which is above the national average. You can do this on a bike or your car depending on the area.

One of the big benefits of food delivery is the flexible schedule. You can work when you want. The most popular time of day for food delivery is also the evening, so you can make good money doing this after your day job and working weekends.

Drive Uber

Driving Uber is another great option to make some extra money. Similar to food delivery you can make your own schedule and peak times such as weekends and nights are likely out of your normal day job hours.

Uber drivers make on average £13.45 per hour. If you only work peak times with surges enabled you could potentially make a lot more. You will need your own vehicle to start taking on these jobs.

Dog Walking

Dog walking has become a widely favored method to earn some additional income. In bustling urban areas, dog walkers can earn roughly £11 per hour, which stands above the national average. Depending on client preferences and city regulations, walks can be individually or in small groups.

The major advantage of dog walking is its flexibility. Walkers have the liberty to choose their hours, accommodating it around their main job or other commitments. Peak walking times typically fall in the early morning and late afternoon, aligning well for those looking to earn extra post their regular working hours or even on weekends.

Power Washing

Power washing has become an increasingly sought-after service, particularly for homeowners and business establishments wanting to rejuvenate their exteriors. In metropolitan areas, a power washing specialist can charge roughly £25 per hour, which can be notably more than the average hourly rate. The equipment might require an initial investment, but the returns can be substantial.

A significant advantage of the power washing business is its adaptability. Operators can choose their hours, often seeing a spike in demand during weekends when homeowners are available, or after rainy seasons when mildew and dirt build-up is at its peak. This allows one to easily juggle power washing with other commitments or employment.

Window Cleaning

Window cleaning has become an increasingly sought-after service, especially in bustling urban areas. In big cities, a window cleaner can expect to earn roughly £14 per hour, which stands above the national average. Depending on the height and type of building, one can opt for ladder-based cleaning or harness-equipped methods.

One of the significant advantages of window cleaning is the adaptability of its schedule. Cleaners can choose their preferred timings, though mornings tend to be most popular as the sun helps in spotting streaks and residues. This flexibility means one can pursue window cleaning alongside a regular daytime job or even during weekends.

3 Things You Should Avoid When Trying To Make Money Online

Some of the other websites you come across when you searched how to make £100 per day will mislead you into wasting your time. They do this because they get paid a lot to recommend people to their platform. Here at Money Sprout we care more about our readers having a good experience than making an extra pound.

Below I have outlined some of these regularly promoted BS ways of making money. Most of them are just time sucks where you make money for the company itself while others are complete scams.

Survey Websites

Survey websites often advertise the allure of easy money for minimal effort. However, there are several reasons why individuals seeking to make money online should exercise caution or avoid them altogether:

  1. Minimal Payouts: The most prominent drawback of most survey sites is the minuscule compensation offered for the time and effort spent. It’s not uncommon for individuals to spend hours completing surveys only to earn a few dollars or even just cents. When one calculates the hourly rate, it often falls far below the minimum wage.
  2. Time Consuming: Survey sites usually have a screening process where participants must qualify for a particular survey based on demographics or other criteria. It’s frustrating to spend time attempting to qualify for a survey only to be told you’re not a fit after several minutes. This effectively means that the participant’s time was wasted with no compensation.
  3. Data Privacy Concerns: Survey websites collect vast amounts of personal and demographic information. While many are legitimate and have data protection protocols, there are plenty of dubious sites out there. Sharing personal details can lead to privacy breaches, spam, or even identity theft.
  4. Payout Restrictions: Some websites have a threshold that users must reach before they can cash out. This could mean you have to complete an extensive number of surveys before seeing any tangible reward. In some unfortunate cases, users find it nearly impossible to reach the payout limit, rendering their efforts fruitless.
  5. Saturation: Due to the popularity of these platforms, high-demand surveys fill up quickly, making it challenging for participants to find consistent opportunities.

Paid To Watch Videos

The allure of “getting paid to watch videos” as a means of making money online can be tempting, especially for those who are seeking easy, low-effort income streams. However, this approach is rarely lucrative and often misleading. In most cases, the pay rates for these types of activities are extremely low, often amounting to mere pennies per hour of time spent. Furthermore, the “work” can quickly become monotonous, leaving you disengaged and unfulfilled. This could lead to a cycle where you are investing significant amounts of time for minimal return, and that time could be better spent acquiring new skills or working on more rewarding projects that offer real income potential.

Additionally, many of these “paid-to-watch videos” schemes are run by websites or apps with questionable credibility. The risk of scams or data harvesting operations is not trivial; you may find that you’re exposing yourself to unnecessary risks such as identity theft or malware by engaging with these platforms. Even legitimate sites often have a high threshold for withdrawing earnings, meaning you may have to spend countless hours watching videos before you see any tangible payout.

When you consider these factors, it becomes evident that your time and effort are much more valuable than what these “paid-to-watch” opportunities can offer. Instead, focus on more sustainable and rewarding ways to make money online, such as freelancing, running an online business, or participating in educational courses that can enhance your skillset and career prospects.

Paid To Search The Web

Similar to what we have outlined above for “Paid to Watch” videos, these sites are rarely legitimate, and if they are, they offer pennies per hour. Your time is much better spent on building an actual skillset you can charge real money for.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully, this guide has allowed you to find at least one side gig that can bring in £100 per day. No matter what your skill set is, there is something here for you. Let us know in the comments how you plan to make your £100 per day.
